Pastor's Vision

"Mt. Zion is a church that operates in excellence and compassion while meeting the needs of the whole person (spirit, soul, and body). We will build bridges that impact our community and the world for Jesus Christ. Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church is a place where every member is enabled to operate in his/her gift."

Four things God wants you to know!!!

1)  God Loves You (John 3:16) "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life".

2) God sent His Son, Jesus so that you could have and enjoy life while living on earth (John 10:10) "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly".

3) Jesus came to forgive you of all the wrong things you have done in this life, past, present and future (II Corinthians 6:2) "For He says: in an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time, behold now is the day of salvation".

4) Jesus is the only way to God (John 14:6) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me".

If you would like to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior

Pray this prayer:

“Dear God, I am a sinner in need of a savior, I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I believe in my heart that you raised Him from the dead, and I now ask you Jesus to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord for saving my soul, In Jesus name. Amen.”

Romans 10: 9-10

Your Part (the ABC’s)

ADMIT: That you have sin. (Romans 3:23)

BELIEVE: In your heart (Romans 10:14)

CONFESS: Jesus Today! (Romans 10:14-15)

Mt. Zion also  has Ministers, Deacons, and Deaconess to help you under the direction of the Pastor with your spiritual needs.

May God Bless you!

Museum honors Martin Luther King, Jr.

Standing the Watch for Equality was the theme for the 2011 commemoration service honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jan.12, at the Naval Undersea Museum’s Jack Murdock Auditorium.

Following the National Anthem performed by the Navy Band Northwest, and the invocation by Navy Chaplain Lt.j.g. Mark Baudette, Keyport Chief Staff Officer Cmdr. Erik Neal, welcomed the midday audience with opening remarks.

“Dr. King was a vital figure of the modern era. His lectures and dialogues stirred concern and sparked the conscience of a generation. The movements and marches he led brought significant changes in the fabric of American life through his courage and selfless devotion,” said Neal. “This devotion gave direction to 13 years of civil rights activities. His charismatic leadership inspired many people in this nation and around the world.”

Presented by Keyport’s Black Employee Program, this year’s service continued with a Praise Dance by Crystal McGruder to the recorded musical selection of “Stand” by gospel vocalist Donnie McClurkin. During the six minute performance, McGruder performed a fluid and uplifting dance in syncopation to the lyrics and flow of McClurkin’s gospel classic. This was followed by Vickie Gambrell, Black Employee Program Manager at Keyport, performing the spiritual vocal selection “I feel Like Going On.”

This year’s keynote speaker was Rev. Richmond Johnson, Pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bremerton. Johnson, a veteran, also has more than 30 years of government service and works at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility as a submarine safety coordinator and co-leader of the command mentoring team.

In his remarks, Rev. Johnson implored the vision and real life experiences of Dr. King, and took the audience on an extensive journey in the mind and thoughts of King when he traveled the United States and the world in search of answers and the real meaning of equality in the 1960’s. As he summed up King’s journeys and revelations as he traveled through Europe, Israel and elsewhere, Johnson then addressed the audience in the present as the service neared its conclusion.

“Dr. King was a visionary. He showed us that we could work together regardless of race, color or creed. He showed us that we could get along, that we could play together, that we could enjoy one another at the peak. So that’s why I thank God for Dr. King and I thank God for each of you. God bless you and God bless America.”

I greet you in the matchless name of Jesus:

Happy New Year to each of you. This is the year to take our experience with Jesus outside the four walls of the church. We are not just here to survive; we are here to declare the wonderful works of the Lord. Our theme scripture for this year will be: Psalm 118:17.

We are ready to continue moving forward in taking back the   Arts/Entertainment Mountain. Our members have proven we are qualified to produce Christian plays and musical events. Let’s help Demicus produce a great Christian show for BKAT focusing on the power of music.

As God uses us to advance His kingdom with the gospel of Jesus Christ we need to make conscience decisions on allowing the ministries in Zion to build us up. God has given us ministries to help us live a Christian life seven days a week.

When we look back at the first mention of how the early church operated there is great commitment to unity. The "law of first-mention" is the principle in the interpretation of Scripture which states that the first mention or occurrence of a subject in Scripture establishes an unchangeable pattern, with that subject remaining unchanged in the mind of God throughout Scripture. The early church not only prayed together and supported one another; the power that sent them out to preach, teach, and witness was the Holy Spirit.

This example of ministry demonstrated how  miracles occurred, and people were changed when they witnessed. Their witness demonstrates how  the church existed to reach out and share Jesus; and miraculous signs will follow.  Let’s not forget their witness was not without incident and danger. Because of the danger the need to be on one accord and have corporates prayer was crucial.

This New Year has given us an opportunity once again to develop ministry teams and ensure we are not leaving anyone out as we build relationships in the church that will help heal a dying world. This is the year our ministry will meet people at their point of need and help them answer questions dealing with life’s purpose:

  1. Who is God?
  2. What is God like?
  3. How do I find God/
  4. What is salvation?
  5. How do I pray?
  6. How do I find meaning and purpose?

This past year we saw a great change in our choir focusing more on worship teams and setting an atmosphere for praise. Our men are setting a great example by meeting every Saturday Morning and we will continue to work on providing childcare ministries to introduce our children to Jesus Christ. It is my prayer that each of you make a dedicated decision to come to Sunday school and Bible study.

The best is yet to come
